Bosco and Mercy are great roomates

Since the beginning of time we have been told that cats and dogs are mortal enemies and they don’t like each other. Well that can be true but don’t let it sway you from having a cat and a dog as pets.
When Bosco and Mercy moved in together just under three years ago, it was rough at first. But I don’t think it was a cat and dog issue. It was more like having to move in with a step brother. Sharing love from us and the space in the house took some time to get used to. They are still pretty jealous when you spend too much time with one but now they are best buds.
They share the same sleeping space, hang out when they eat and generally team up to make our lives crazy.

Thinking about adopting a perky little puppy as a friend for your fluffy cat, but worried that they’ll fight — well, like cats and dogs? Think again. New research at Tel Aviv University, the first of its kind in the world, has found a new recipe for success. According to the study, if the cat is adopted before the dog and if they are introduced when still young (less than 6 months for kittens, a year for dogs), there is a high probability that your two pets will get along swimmingly.
Now we did not follow this exact path but like people, animals need to adjust and over time they can get along.
We almost think they have been working together from the very beginning and everything is part of some master plan to foil the humans.
I like to compare Mercy and Bosco to Garfield and Odie. Mercy is the brains and Bosco is the dumb muscle.

This morning, our cat was chasing the dog! Seriously though, they get along just fine. Somewhere I have pictures of Chaos (the cat) curling up with Charlie (the dog)
