McCain leads race over Obama, at least in dogs

“The president is seen as a family-oriented man who likes animals,” said Claire McLean of the Presidential Pet Museum in Williamsburg, Va. “The president is a reflection of the American public, and a majority of American citizens like animals.”
Dogs still top the list of the most popular U.S. pets, and John McCain leads the pack with four pooches. His menagerie also includes two turtles, a cat, a ferret, three parakeets and 13 fish.
Barack Obama has no animals but has promised his two daughters a dog whether or not he’s named best in show in November.
