Pet events to spice up the fall
By cuzzy | September 27, 2007
RICK CONRAD who writes Petpourri has some great ideas for you and your pet now that fall has arrived.

This coming Saturday from 6 to 11 p.m., it’s the Metro SPCA’s fourth annual Cause for Paws dinner and auction at the Marriott Halifax Harbourfront hotel.
It’s a really fun night, hosted by the always-entertaining Neville MacKay. Tickets are $75 each or $650 for a table of 10. You get a three-course meal, live entertainment (besides Neville, I mean), a doggie fashion show and a chance to secure some primo pet and people stuff in the live and silent auctions.
Tickets are available at the Neptune Theatre box office by calling 429-7070. Check out www.spcans.ca for more info.

Keep Oct. 13 open on your calendars for the SHAID Tree Animal Shelter’s annual Dog Walk and Wag fundraiser at the Mahone Bay ball park.
Beginning at 1:30 p.m., you have your choice of a long or short route. There promise to be lots of prizes and games for you and your pooch. (Bring some canned dog or cat food with you too, since the shelter is running low.)
You can get a pledge sheet by going to the Bridgewater shelter itself, its website ( www.shaid.ca), through area vets or by contacting Beth at 543-5909, Mike at 624-9072 or by e-mailing nshskent@bwr.eastlink.ca. The rain date for the event is Oct. 14.
