Dog Breeders Issue Massive Recall Of ‘07 Pugs

Citing centuries of quality- control issues that have resulted in chronic unreliability, cascading system failures, and even total unit shutdown, the American Pug Breeders Association announced a recall Monday of all pugs produced between February 2006 and the present day.
“We apologize wholeheartedly to any and all owners of the 2007 pug,” APBA director Betty McAndrews said at a press conference, standing before a table where 10 defective pugs were displayed. “While pug owners are accustomed to dog malfunction, the latest animals are prone to more problems than just the usual joint failures, overheating, seizures, chronic respiratory defects, and inability to breed without assistance. The latest model pug is simply not in any way a viable dog.”

This made some very good points about dog breeding and some terrible things that have been done to dogs. Pugs are so cute, but I hope all would be buyers research carefully what they are getting into.

Hey!!!!!My pugs would be hurt about that comment!!! Pugs are some of the most loyal, nice, caring,sweet, and fun dogs that you could own(well, technically, they own you). You need to reseach your facts a little better next time you make up a story about my favorite dog.

I have one 06 and one 07 model, so far so good. I have owned many a dog, big and small and I will agree with most pug owners, they are the best pet a person can ask for. If you can’t take a joke, don’t look in the mirror…loosen up people.

I think this article was written so well so I had my son read it. He really thought it was true and we have an ‘06 model which we all adore and love. I had him watch the slideshow and he thought it was funny as well. No breed is as loveable as the Pug. We are convinced. My friend calls them God’s little joke. I’m hooked. He’s gotten us through this last deployment and will this next one too. Pugs are better than getting on antidepressants and hearing psychologist babbling mumbo jumbo. They are one big ball of pure love. I don’t think this article was meant to be mean about Pugs I think it was all in fun. They are so very right on on a lot of the problems Pugs can have but I tell you I would spend any amount of money to keep Brutus healthy. He is just as important as anyone living in our household.

My wife has shown the printed version of this Onion article to at least 100 people as one of the funniest articles she ever read. And I should mention that we have a pug and, well I would never give my wife the choice of the pug or me.
Even if people didn’t know what the Onion was, they would have to be pretty dense not to get the fact that it was meant as a joke. These people are really taking themselves too seriously and shouldn’t even be allowed to pet a pug.
BTW, I think your readers should be aware that the ‘06 model is also known to have bad brakes, especially on tile. And none of the model years is very responsive–except possible to people food and squeaky toys.

My sister owns a pug, so when I came across this article and read it, I let her know right away. She read it aswell, and we both got a kick out of it. I don’t understand why most of the comments here are so offensive. You all should realise there can never be a ‘recall’ of any animal.
At any rate, her pug is a ‘07 model as well. Laughter aside, we want to send him back for the new sleeker model. ’07s are just too outdated.

SERIOUSLY, 94.5% body fat?!?!?! OMG i cant believe you write this kind of slander. Maybe your stupid thick head is 94.5% fat, ever think about that? Pugs are genetically wrong. Dog is pretty much useless. Problems with this dog doesn’t end such as breathing, ear and skin infections, arthritis. Just put a lamp shade on it and use it as a fixture. Pugs are pretty much like what happened to bulldogs, which can’t even give birth without a surgery. Not every gene meant to be mixed with others but folks find it cute so its OK to process a genetically challenged dogs.

All pedigrees have issues and are bred for a certain look and certain traits, even the boring breeds like labradors and alsatians (hips) and king charles spaniels (brain issues).
My pug is healthy and always has been. So what if she snores, so does my boyfriend! She is well bred from good lines and her mother self whelped (birthed), as do all the pugs my breeder produces. She does not believe in the breeding of Bulldogs, she says that if they cannot mate by themselves and cannot give birth by themselves then as a breed they should not exist, pure nature!
As cute as I find bulldogs I would never buy one as I have seen so many that are completely messed up and their quality of life is crap.
My pug is fine, she has no health issues and as such I am getting another one next week! From a reputable breeder who actually cares about the breed and it’s health. She is most certainly not genetically challenged!

Done the right way dog breeding can be a good thing but I see so many people doing it the wrong way and they are just after a quick dollar. Shame really.

*chuckle* We own a 2002 model and a pair of 2009’s and this really funny! C’mon people, get a life!
Our 2002 was recalled a few times already, and one of the 2009’s seems to have been built on a Monday. But I don’t think there’s a more lovable dog. Or loving.
The bit about the body fat is totally wrong, though. As any pug owner will tell you (especially after trying to shift one out of the way in the middle of the night), Pugs do not have a bit of body fat. They are made of concrete. And it is far easier to move a concrete block than it is to move a sleeping pug.
Oh, and did you realize that pugs only shed once a year? This is true. However, “once” lasts for 365 days …
Ahh, enough of this. The 2009’s are waiting to play.
